With the advent of industrialization and therefore starting at the end of the 1800s and throughout the 1900s humans have contributed in a serious manner to pollute the atmosphere and the air.

In some underdeveloped areas industries dumped and still dump all their fumes and smoke into the atmosphere without any filtering, heating systems for our buildings vent into the atmosphere, automobiles we use everyday emit exhaust into the atmosphere. The accumulation of all these fumes, smoke and particulates in percentage and amounts ever increasing has caused an exponential increase in atmospheric pollution with serious effects on our health, and also collateral effects like climate change and everything that it involves.
